A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Robert Leek Sr. of Tampa, who passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019, will be held Saturday, November 23rd, at 11 a.m. at Victory (St. James) AME Church of Progress Village, 5202 South 86th St., Tampa, FL, with Pastor Michael Price, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Robert Leek Sr. was born to the late Theodore Leek and Delia Bell of Tampa, FL and was educated in the School District of Hillsborough County, where he graduated from Don Thompson High School. He served in the Army and made rank of Corporal before his Honorable discharge in 1954. While in the Army, Robert earned the National Defense Service Medal.
He was a dedicated member of St. James AME Church where he served faithfully in his early years with the founders of the church. As his health declined, he found comfort in his present Pastor, Michael Price, coming to visit him at home and later at The Home Association (Ybor City, FL) to offer Communion and Prayer. Robert Leek Sr. was a hard worker and was dedicated to his family.
He retired in 1990, from Tampa Electric Company where he was a faithful and valued employee for 32 years.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife of 57 years, Elois Delancy Leek; brothers, Theodore Leek Jr., and Austin Leek; and sisters, Eloise Cummings, Elois Neal, and Della Holton.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memories with: sons, Robert Leek Jr. and wife Sharon, and Paul E. Leek Sr. and wife Melissa; daughters, Sabrena Davis and husband, Fred, Muriel Yvette Barr and husband Richard, and Linda Denise Bealts and husband James; grandchildren, Tonya, Edward Sr. (Janelle), Thaddeus (Shenice), La Keisha, Chasity (Travis), James, Jr. (Shandalyn), Kristin, Ricky, Paul, Jr., Shareese, Eric, Priscilla, Malaquia, Fred, Jr., Maurice and Damien; great-grandchildren, A’Zaria, Jessica, Alecia, Edward, Jr., Abraham, Francis, Mariah, Keshsa, Avery, Natalya, Zatavia, and Aubrey; sister, Rudene Burton; sisters-in-law, Theresa Delancy and Beatrice Rodriguez-Snow; and a host of devoted nieces and nephews and friends throughout the years.
Our undying gratitude to a devoted family friend/niece and caregiver, Donna Contreras. Additional thanks to Linda Baker, Marcia Buckley, Edward McAdoo and the many others that helped us with his care.
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, November 22 and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
