Mr. Willie C. Johnson, Sr., of Tampa passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 2002 N. Rome Avenue, Reverend Dr. C. T. Kirkland, Pastor with Reverend Thaddeus Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Willie C. Johnson was a native of Cuthbert, Georgia and was reared and educated in the public schools of Attapulgus, Georgia where he graduated from Attapulgus High School. He relocated to Tampa, Florida at an early age and was a resident for over 60 years. Mr. Johnson accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1965 and was a member of First Baptist Church of West Tampa. Mr. Johnson retired as a Steel Worker from Florida Steel Company.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Deacon Frank and Tinnie Johnson; brother, Deacon Bobby Johnson; sisters, Mary Johnson, Minnie Washington, and twin sister, Willie Bell Haugabook.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Ruby Johnson; daughters, Evelyn Brook (Oliver), Cheylene Johnson, DyRonda Johnson-Myles, Tonya Baker (Kem), and Michelle Bush (Ronald); sons, Willie C. Johnson, Jr., Jeffrey Johnson, Sr., Mark Johnson (Shanaine), Marcus Johnson, Sr. (Latreish), Darren Johnson Sr., Percy Johnson, Sr., and Lamont Johnson; grandchildren, Danyell Alford (Chasity), Audrey Mendoza, Willie Johnson, III, LaToni Johnson, Sirgio Mendoza, Jeffrey Johnson, Jr., LaMarcus Johnson, D'Andra Johnson, Darrianna Johnson, Dallas Johnson, Jade Johnson, Rontavia Bush, Loreal Bush, Marcus Johnson, Jr., Christopher Johnson, Jr., Brianna Johnson, Talea Judkins (Jeremy), Percy Johnson, Jr. Brandon Johnson, Jasper Johnson, Darren Johnson, Jr., Andre Johnson, Lauryn Johnson, Camry Johnson, Lexis Johnson, Nicholas Johnson and Lo'Real Bush; a host of great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; godsons, Marvin Knight and James Walton; Goddaughter, Rhonesia Dennard; brother, Jessie Johnson (Janice); sisters, Tinnie Arrington (Reverend E.), Mamie Davis and Rosa Screen, all of Thomasville, GA; brothers-in-law, Charles Woodson (Rita), and Charlie Woodson (Rose); sisters-in-law, Karen Woodson, Eula Cones and Janey Clark of Havana, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, January 24 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
