Obituary
Mr. Alfonso Lofton Sampson passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa FL 33606. Interment to follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Alfonso was born in Columbus, Georgia on January 12, 1934, to Odessa and Riley Sampson.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kate Adams-Johnson; his parents; Odessa Williams and Riley Sampson; and his son, Dalfonso Lofton Sampson.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Alfonso Ellison (Dorothy), Errol Sampson (Gail Williams), Reeta Sampson, LaTonya Sampson-James (Darien), Kate Shaw, and Thomas Smith (Shelia); grandchildren, Resha’ Ellison, Alfonza and Samuel Sampson, Ayesha Reed, Nicci Harris (Duke), Kareem McIlwain, Krystall Blake, Keevaugh Sheggog, Jayswan Sampson, Alexia Sampson-Buggs, Kiera, Karra and J’Errol Sampson, Dalisa Sampson, Edward L James III, Rickey Simmons Parker Jr, Rickayla Parker; 42 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Williams; nephew, Roger C Collins, Jr. (Yolanda); great nephew, Delvin Collins Sr (Erica), Perys and Karawn Pruitt (Veronica); and great niece, Richelle Collins Clay (Willie).
The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. MASK RECOMMENDED.
