Bishop Dr. Ronald James Anderson, Sr. of Tampa, Florida, peacefully transitioned on May 31, 2026. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at 34th Street Church of God, 3000 N. 34th Street, Tampa, FL 33605, with Pastor Katrina Lunsford, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Bishop Dr. Ronald J. Anderson, Sr. was a native of Carver City and a lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida, for 66 years. He attended Jefferson High School and later graduated from the University of South Florida. Throughout his life, he was devoted to education, ministry, leadership, and community empowerment.
He was a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and faithfully served within International Bible Way Church of Jesus Christ, Diocese of Florida. Bishop Anderson also served as Pastor of Emmanuel Tabernacle Church, Inc., President of Project NOW, Inc., and Principal of New East Tampa Academy. His impact extended throughout the Tampa community as a mentor, educator, leader, and advocate for youth and families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth G. Anderson, Sr.; his mother, Ollie Mae Anderson; and his brother, Kenneth G. Anderson, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted children, Ronald J. Anderson, Jr. (Krystle), Devin G. Anderson, and Shaylea L. Anderson; beloved granddaughter, Allure Anderson; sisters, Charlotte A. Trawick and Andrea A. Bacon; brothers-in-law, the Honorable Daryl Trawick Sr. and Michael Bacon; niece, Faith Clark-Bacon and Skye Trawick; nephews, Troy M. Bacon, Matthew Trawick, and Daryl Trawick Jr.; along with a host of extended family members, spiritual sons and daughters, dear friends, colleagues, and all whose lives were touched by his wisdom, leadership, and love.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at 34th Street Church of God, 3000 N. 34th Street, Tampa, FL 33605.
