Bishop Willie Lee Morris Jr. Obituary

Bishop Willie Lee Morris Jr. earned his robe and crown while at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, FL, on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 2916 Orient Road, Tampa, FL 33619. The Interment will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, 11:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell FL 33513.

Willie Lee Morris Jr. was born July 27, 1938, to the late Willie Lee Morris Sr. and Annie Bell Mills in Folkston, GA., Charlton County. Willie Lee Morris Jr. was revered as a Bishop to many but also served in the Navy from July 22, 1955, to May 06, 1964, while servicing the Douglas F4D Skyray, as an Aircraft Mechanic. Some of his other accolades were Carpentry, Boxing, and seasonal contract work. He completed his high school education and obtained a diploma, entered the Navy shortly thereafter, and later completed an apprenticeship program in appliances and air conditioning. During his tenure as Bishop Morris, he impacted many lives from the pulpit to the dialysis center, hospital, prison, and so much more. He was no stranger to edifying his ministry and spreading God's teachings. He truly exemplified his desire to serve God's will in the life he lived. He could be rough at times with a jagged edge exterior and as soft as cotton with a heart that would melt gold. He was full of suggestions and advice and always available, no missed calls or voicemails to be left. From the southernmost county in Georgia to the inner-city hustle and bustle of Tampa FL, Bishop Willie Lee Morris Jr. and his late loving wife, Mother Julia Mae Morris would make their mark in history with the opening of their church, True Vine True Love Ministries around the year of 2000. Their venture to serve God's ministry started in their living room and continued to flourish outside their four walls.

Bishop Willie Lee Morris Jr. continued to thrive even after the calling of his late beloved wife and he found comfort in the home of his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Andre and Twanda Morris. Here he spent the remainder of his life continuing to teach others even on his sickest days while being nurtured and cared for by the family and their amazing staff: Rockeeyma, Ivey, Beatriz, Colby, Yenny, and Andre Jr.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Julia Mae Morris (wife); Christine Mills (sister); Lathe Mae Mills (sister); Ida Bell Mills (sister); Robert Lee Mills (brother); Otto Mills (brother), Donald Ray Marcel Mills (son); Jerome Daniels (grandson).

Bishop Morris's legacy will live on forever through his loving family: his children, Annie Elizabeth Mills, Joseph Lamar Mills, Anna Belle Marrs, Morris Mills Junior (Cherry), Jamie (Mills) Morris, Latoniadra Rochelle Johnson, Cora Mills, Willie Lee Morris III (Chimere), Andre Dajuon Morris (Twanda), Derrick Otto Morris, and Demetrius Todd Morris (Angelina); grandchildren, Keisha, Julaine, Lauren, Joey, Liza, Anna, Mary, Jamar, Rosa, Fawnlane, Cameon, Breanna, Angelica, Christopher, Alexander, Bailey, Ozzie, Rae, Quaineal Jr., Lashonda, Jamal, Jordan, Jaiden, Amareon, Zion, Analisa, Alexis, Andre Jr., Erriyon, Trey, Persia, Emilia, Zaire, Destiny, Ashton, Desmond, and Demetrius; brother, James Morris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Isaiah 40:31: "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
