Brother Osborne Alfonso Odom, affectionately known as “Scooter,” of Tampa, FL, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, December 14, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Drive, Tampa, FL 33605, with Pastor Larry Roundtree, Officiating.
Brother Osborne Alfonso Odom was born on July 8, 1952, in Tampa, Florida. Scooter was a 1971 graduate of Tampa Catholic High School. He was inducted into the Tampa Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 for being a member of the 1968 Track and Field State Championship Team. We fondly remembered him for his speed, discipline, and determination.
He dedicated over 30 years of service to GTE, which is now Verizon, and retired as a Supervisor after starting his career as a Splicer. Osborne loved life, enjoying times with family and friends, Bible study, fishing, New Mount Zion Couples Ministry, birthday club outings, and was a proud member of the Progress Village Wild Things. He was also known for his homemade pound cake and other Southern cuisines.
Osborne loved the Lord and served God and others, striving to live as Christ did. He faithfully served at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church as the Chair of the Male Usher Board, Vice President of the Couples Ministry and the Food Pantry Committee. He enjoyed 1970's soul, funk, and gospel music.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Samuel and Rosa Odom, and his brothers, James Grier and Samuel Bernard Odom.
He is survived by: his devoted wife, Elise Odom; children, Danielle Jenkins (Kareem Jenkins), Ursula “Rosie” Odom, Brianna Senter, and LeTore Senter; sister, Orzetta Page (Sutton Page Sr.); cousins, Alphonso “Sunny” McCray (Joyce McCray), Alma Lee Mizel and Shirley Leeks; and his two Fur Babies, Princeton and Bella Rose, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, cards are preferred.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2511 E. Columbus Drive, Tampa, FL 33605.
