Cedric Overstreet Obituary

Mr. Cedric “Ricky” Overstreet was born on December 11, 1957, in Bartow, Florida. He grew up and attended school in Polk County. In later years, the family moved to Hillsborough County, where he graduated from A. P. Leto High School in 1975. He received his Bachelor of Arts, from Morehouse College; Master of Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University.

In Bradenton, Florida, he became the Housing and Community Development Specialist, where he assisted in small city community development and special construction projects. These degrees allowed him many great positions that he was proud of, in the city of Stamford, Connecticut he became the Housing Development Manager Assistant for all community development programs. He worked with the Board of Finance; the Citizens Advisory Board, the Section 8 Manager, the City Commission and inter-governmental agencies.

In his final occupations, he worked as a High School substitute teacher providing instruction to K-12th grade students.

After many years of declining mental health, Cedric departed this life on August 26, 2020, at his home in Tampa, Florida.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Rev. J. L. Overstreet and Mrs. Ada Overstreet.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his sister, Chicquita “Kay” Archer (children: Gerron, Preston, Bryce);
his brother, Jon Kevin Overstreet (children: Jalon, Jordan); a sister-in-law, Gwen Overstreet; and a host of other sorrowing family and friends.
