Chandra Major

Ms. Chandra Patrice Major of Tampa, FL. passed away Friday, January 1, 2021. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 16, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, with Minister Bruce Bryant, of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Hill Cemetery.  Please follow the CDC Guidelines. Masks are required.

Ms. Major was a native of Washington, D.C. and a resident of Tampa for 43 years. She graduated from King High School and was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Chorus and the Financial Accounting Ministry. She was employed as a Medical Claims Assistant.

Chandra was preceded in death by: her parents, Al Joseph Ashe Sr., Katherine Hannah Grant Ashe, and Johnnie Mae Abrams; and siblings, Patricia Ann Ashe, Irene Grant Mials, Betty Ross and Willie Franklin. 

She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved son, Martin (Shemeka) Major of Murfreesboro, TN; granddaughter, Londyn Janelle Major; sisters, Debra Ashe of Washington, D.C. and Arlisa (Leo) Leach of Raleigh, NC; brother, Al Joseph (Tonya) Ashe, Jr. of Raleigh, NC.; uncles, Eugene (Carolyn) Allen of Coram, NY, Willie C. Allen of Tampa, FL, and Earl Williams of Raleigh, NC; aunts, Ruth Bryant of Tampa, FL, Alice Williams, Bessie Kearney, and Hazeline Ashe of Raleigh, NC.; nephews, Eric and Tony Franklin of Tampa, FL, and Christopher Grant, Timothy Mials, Lee Ashe, and Marquezz Ashe of Raleigh, NC; nieces, Melanice and Renae Franklin, Natalie Mials, Aisha Davis, and Mercedes Davis of Raleigh, NC; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, January 15 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.  We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines.  Masks are required.
