Ms. Cheryl Elaine Williams, of Tampa Florida, made a peaceful transition to be with the Lord on Monday, July 26, 2021 at the age of 63, after a long and brave battle with breast cancer. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, 9:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa FL 33606. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
Ms. Cheryl Williams was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. Her parents were Louvenia Merkison and Clarence Williams. She worked for Bay Street Café and The Atrium Café for 21 years collectively, as a Cook. She made many lifelong friends with her co-workers and patrons throughout her tenure at both locations.
At 59 years old, Cheryl decided that she wanted a change and moved to Tampa where she quickly fell in love with the Tampa Bay area. She became an active user of the Hillsborough County Library system and the local parks where she enjoyed going for walks every week.
Never one to be intimidated by new opportunities for growth, Cheryl also quit using tobacco after being a long-time smoker, and she found employment at The Colonnade at Carrollwood, both of which she was extremely proud of in her new life in Tampa.
Cheryl leaves to cherish her memory, her sons Virgil Williams and Shaun Richardson; grandchildren, Legend Williams-Gibson, Paige Williams-Gibson, and Isaiah Williams-Gibson; siblings, Phyllis Merkison, Vivian Merkison, and Virgil Davis; sister-in law, Danette Merkison (Chris); a host of loving nieces and nephews, including Sertana Crooms and LaVonna Merkison; and many loving cousins, friends and former co-workers.
Visitation for Ms. Williams will be held Friday, August 6, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa FL 33606. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
