Coretha Bassett Obituary

Mrs. Coretha E. Bassett, of Tampa, FL, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020. Her homegoing celebration of life and love will be held, Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Allen Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2101 Lowe St, Tampa, FL 33605. Senior Pastor, Dr. Glenn B. Dames, Jr., will be presider and eulogist. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.  Please follow the CDC guidelines. 

Mrs. Bassett was the oldest of five girls born to the late Ruth and Jerry Jordan. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County – graduating from Don Thompson High School. Coretha continued her education and graduated with an Associates in Arts Degree from Hillsborough Community College.

Mrs. Bassett married the love of her life, Mr. Herbert H. Bassett. They were married for more than 60 years at the time of his death.  To their union, one daughter, Lori, was born.  Coretha loved her family and was very devoted to their care and wellbeing.  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.

Mrs. Coretha Bassett leaves to celebrate her life, love and grand style, her daughter: Lori Bassett Sharrieff (Tarik); grandchildren: Tariq and Talia Sharrieff; two sisters: Mrs. Joyce Jordan Williams and  Mrs. Eleara Jordan Campbell (Gerald); many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as her devoted friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held, Friday, October 16, from 3 – 7 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Ave, Tampa, FL 33607.  We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
