Mr. Corey Lee Frierson Johnson of Tampa, FL, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, 12:00 PM at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3005 E. Ellicott Street, Tampa, FL 33610, with Reverend Adrian D. Reid, Sr., Pastor, and Reverend Ernest Boone, presiding. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 East Lake Avenue, Tampa, 33610.
Mr. Corey Lee Frierson Johnson was a native of Leesburg, Florida, and relocated to Hillsborough County during infancy, and lived in both Brandon and Tampa for 34 years. He attended Riverview High School and graduated in 2009. He was sworn into the United States Air Force in 2009 and placed in the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). Within the year, Corey decided to separate from the program before active duty. He then attended Hillsborough Community College with aspirations of becoming a veterinarian.
Corey’s spiritual upbringing began at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ at a very young age. He sang in the church choir and was active within the youth department. In his adult years, he attended New Hope and various churches in close proximity to his residence.
Most recently, he worked as a Subcontractor for Concierge Logistics. Corey had a passion for driving and intended to establish his own box truck business under the name of C and R (Corey and Rachelle) Logistics. Corey was extremely enthusiastic about this new venture!
Corey leaves to cherish his memory: his precious daughter, Coriah (Coco) Lanae Frierson; her mother, Ashley Causey; Coriah’s sister, Ay’Niyah Causey; parents, Corey Lee Johnson and Rachelle Brown (William); grandmother, Effie B. Johnson; great-grandmother, Arrie Hart; brothers, Jaquez Johnson, Derrick Jackson Cousin, Adrian Cherry, and William T. Brown, Jr.; sisters, Breanna Thompson and Ashley Brown; nieces, Breyelle, Kyleigh, Nariyah, Jayani and Journey Johnson, Aria Bell, and Amariana and Amyla Cherry; nephews, Jaquez Johnson, Jr., Shemir Alexander, and Jordan Brown; Godmother, Kimberly Scott and her husband Pastor Michael T. Scott; special friend, Deshana Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, God-siblings, and other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3005 E. Ellicott Street, Tampa, FL 33610.
