Darlene Virginia Miller

On July 10, 1968, Darlene was the fourth child of eight children born to her parents, Reuben A.and Hazel Miller, Sr. She was a quiet and reserved child, being born between two boys with dominant personalities. The older brother of the three, Darryl, is who she catered to most. Theybecame very close, and Darlene always protected and cared for him.

Darlene matriculated in the Dade County School System and graduated from North MiamiSenior High School in North Miami, Florida. She was a very accomplished student, winningmany academic awards, and was in the top ten percent of her graduating class. She was granted the opportunity to study abroad in Hod HaSharon, Israel at the Alexander Muss High School. After graduating high school, she studied at Bethune Cookman University and laterDeVry University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she met and later married Tony Lee.

Throughout her childhood and until she left for college, Darlene attended Liberty City Church of God under the pastorate of Rev. Thomas Chenault, Rev. Walter Jackson, and Rev. Jonathan Ramsey, Sr. She was active in Sunday School, the Junior Choir, the Evangelettes, and the Mass Choir. She also led the Singles Ministry and participated in other district and statewide Church of God ministries. She also ministered in song along with her sister, Andrea (Catina).

Darlene was a loving child to her parents and siblings. She accepted the Lord as her Savior at an early age. She later recommitted her life to her Lord and served in ministry in various capacities. Darlene gave birth to two adoring girls; Alexandria Ardarneice, and Taylor Sharnese.

Feeling the need to diversify her professional development, Darlene moved to Tampa, Florida in 2002 and had a very successful career in the insurance industry with USAA where she remained until her health began to fail.

After several years of illness, Darlene returned home to South Florida until the summer of 2018.

There she remained committed to supporting kingdom work while attending her local church.

Darlene felt the need to return to Tampa, Florida to be closer to her sister residing there. She and her family resided with her sister and brother-in-law, Andrea (Catina) and Kevin Holmes and family, where she was lovingly cared for along with her daughters.

On December 31, 2019, near the closing hours of the year, Darlene heard the voice of Jesus saying, “Come, my dear child. Rest from your labor. Welcome home!” Darlene answered the Savior’s call surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Darlene was preceded in death by her father, Reuben A Miller Sr.; her grandparents and one brother, Darryl Miller.

She is survived by her two daughters Alexandria and Taylor Miller; her mother Hazel Marina (George Johnson) of Baxley, Georgia); her siblings: Reuben A. Miller Jr. (Georgette) of North Miami Beach, Florida; Lisa Miller-Imogu (Rapheal) of Fishers, Indiana; Keith Miller, Sr. of Miami, Florida; A. Catina MIller-Holmes (Kevin) of Tampa, Florida, Alexander Miller of Miami, Florida, Marena Miller-Sanders (Romale) of Tampa, Florida; an aunt, Portia Cartwright (Denton) of Nassau, Bahamas; her nieces and nephews: Eldric Miller (Erica), Re’Nata Johnson, Markesha Miller, Y’Nandrea King-Walker (David), Khimani King, Keith Jr., Cooper Miller-Holmes, Christian Miller-Holmes, Hezekiah Sanders; 14 grand nieces and nephews; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends; Godparents, Rev. and Mrs. Kellom, Elder and Mrs. Larry and Raetta Allen.
