Deacon Eddie Norman Obituary

 

Deacon Eddie B. Norman of Tampa, FL, passed away on October 29, 2025.  Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3005 E. Ellicott St., Tampa, FL 33610, with Reverend Dr. Ernest Boone, Officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Deacon Eddie B. Norman, a beloved and faithful servant of God, was born February 22, 1930 to Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Beulah) Norman of Lincolnton, Georgia. He was raised in a Christian home, accepting Christ at an early age. He traveled throughout the United States and made Tampa, Florida, his home in 1959. 

Eddie joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where he served and was ordained as a Deacon in 1964 under the pastorship of Reverend John Willis. A scripture that guided his life was II Timothy 2:15. His accolades within New Hope were numerous.  He served as Chairman of the Deacons for 28 years, was a Sunday School teacher for over 30 years, trained men to become teachers, Leader and Advisor for New Member Orientation classes, Advisor to the local Brotherhood Ministry, Advisor to all choirs and Chairman of the benevolence efforts for non-members. Deacon Norman’s extensive knowledge of the Bible was so highly regarded that he was asked by the former pastor, Reverend Dr. T. W. Jenkins, to teach in his absence. His most recent esteemed roles were Director of Discipleship Training, Evangelism and Street Ministry. 

His service extended far beyond the walls of New Hope.  He was a Teacher in Local, State, and National meetings, an Assistant Dean and Teacher, Fifth Week Congress Number One and Treasurer, Mt. Pilgrim M B Association, Teacher in the State and National Congresses and National Convention Brotherhood Ministries of the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc. and Study Leader for the Brotherhood of the Progressive M&E Baptist State Convention of Florida, Inc. earning the title “Study Leader Emeritus”.

He entered into holy matrimony with Dorine Brown on February 20, 1988. He was her devoted husband for nearly 38 years.

Preceding him in death were: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Beulah) Norman; son, Eddie Roger Norman; grandson, Mario Walker; brothers, Nathan Norman, Willie Wash Norman, Will Hite Norman, and Este Norman; sisters, Clara Bolton and Lizzie Felts; and son-in-law, Thomas Walker.

His legacy will forever be cherished by:  his loving wife, Deaconess Dorine Norman; son, Larry Coleman; daughter, Vivian N Walker; 5 grandchildren, Taurin (Shaye) Coleman, Princess Coleman, Timothy Coleman, Mara and Martez Walker; great grandchild, Mario Walker Jr.; brother, Willie Norman; nieces and nephews, Tina and Frank Norman, Precious Salmon, Edna (Jon) Dixon, Anita Bolton, Jerome, Roger, Bobby and Leroy Bolton, Melissa (Danzell) Ross, Kathy Henderson, Henrietta Norman Baker, Syvallen Norman Murray, Eddie Norman, Beulah Norman, Gennett Norman, Willie Clifford Norman, Tonya Norman-Fulton, Hazel Clark, Christine Norman, Cheryl Norman-Sanders, Hakimah Kantomanto, Mary Norman, Joann Norman, Willie Ed (Ruthie) Norman, Melvin Norman, and Patrick Norman; inherited daughters in Christ, Tiffany Boone, Mialana Johnson, and Tangela Stubbins and a host of special great nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and his New Hope M. B. Church family whom he loved dearly. 

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3005 E. Ellicott St., Tampa, FL 33610.
