Mr. Larry Williams was born on August 17, 1961, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to the late Henry Williams and Earlie Mae Williams. He was the 4th eldest of eight children, with six brothers and one sister. Larry began his education in Daytona Beach, attending North Ridgewood Elementary, Mainland 7th Grade Center, Campbell Junior High, and Spruce Creek Senior High. He was an active member of the Upward Bound program and attended Daytona Beach Community College before graduating from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Larry lived in Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked at Hertz Corporation before moving to Tampa, Florida, to start his career in the healthcare industry. As an entrepreneur, he was the founder and CEO of Uncompensated Healthcare Services, Inc., where he helped families find financial assistance programs to pay for their children’s hospital expenses. Larry operated his successful business for over 13 years. After the birth of his daughter Ari, he was promoted to the most significant role of his life as a Stay-at-Home Dad. Ari was the light of his life, his pride and joy. Larry was a humanitarian and founded HALBO Foundation to help boys and men thrive in society. Larry enjoyed bowling, fishing, dancing, reading Marvel comics, going to the movies, listening to music, playing his saxophone, hanging out in his man cave, watching UF Gator football, working out at the gym, running in marathons, taking naps, and spending time with friends and family, especially his daughter Ari. Larry had a servant’s heart and was a faithful and longstanding member of The First Baptist Church of Progress Village since 1997. Over the years, he served as a deacon and was active in several ministries, including the Mighty Men’s Ministry, Couples’ Ministry, Male Chorus, and Security Ministry. He was also known for his roles in church plays as well as volunteering in his community and helping out wherever there was a need. He could often be found mentoring young people and giving a big smile and words of encouragement to all who crossed his path.
Larry was preceded in death by: his father, Henry Williams; his mother, Earlie Mae Williams; and his eldest brother, Alvin Ward. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend.
His loving legacy lives on in the hearts of: his wife of nearly 22 years, Darlene Williams; mother-in-love Daisy B. Lanier; two children, Ari D. Williams, and Jessica Williams-Gay (Bennette); honorary daughter, De’Andra Blake (Shaun Willoughby); like a daughter, Simone Adams; like a son, John Adams; grandchildren, Malaysia Williams, Dior Willoughby, Shyne Willoughby; brothers, Vincent Cue (Louise), Roderick Williams (Yolanda), Horace Williams, Gerald Williams (Pam), and Maurice Williams (Alisha); sister, Beatrice Baker (Abner); sisters in law, Gloria-Jean Ward, and Stephanie Adams; uncle, Tommy Lee Williams (Maple); and a host of family and good friends.
