Dorothy Knighton

Mrs. Dorothy Pittman Knighton of Tampa, Florida, departed this life on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Her homegoing service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 @ 11 a.m. at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 2606 W. Grace Street, Pastor T. D. Leonard, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Please follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.   

Mrs. Dorothy Pittman Knighton was a native of Shellman, Georgia and a resident of Tampa for many years.  She was a member of Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church and retired as a Domestic Engineer for private homes. 

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Willie D. Pittman and Rosalee Jackson Pittman.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  a devoted sister, Mildred Johnson (Louis); brother, John Pittman, Sr. (Deborah) of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Shamika Knighton, Torrence Knighton (Lameka), Willie Knighton, Jr., LaShawndra Knighton, all of Tampa, FL and Alex J. Knighton, IV of Pompano Beach, FL; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Bertha Knighton of Tampa, FL and Yazetta Jones-Knighton of Pompano Beach, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, her Mt. Tabor Church family and friends. 

The visitation will be held Friday, August 7, 3 – 7 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
