Ms. Ella Jewel Pierson affectionately known as “Jewel”, went to the other side of eternity on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 6:46 a.m., preceding her, aunt, Eula Ann Young by 3 days.(They met up together in Glory on December 3, 2020 late afternoon.) Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 12 at 2:30 p.m. at Allen Temple A. M. E. Church, 2101 Lowe Street with Pastor Donald Lott, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Fifteen minutes prior to service time, Please visit Allen Temple A.M.E. Church on Facebook Live for the opportunity to view service via Live Streaming. Please follow the CDC Guidelines. Masks are required.
Ms. Ella Jewel Pierson was a native of Brundidge, Alabama, born to Ms. Rosie Lee Pierson. She was raised in Tampa and Key West, Florida and was educated in the public schools of Hillsborough and Monroe Counties. Jewel worked for Target for 13 years and SP+ Parking of Tampa until her health began to fail. Jewels hobbies included having fun with family, friends and loved ones. She had the biggest smile and sweetest heart you would ever find in a human being.
She was preceded in death by: her grandparents, James Rodgers and Addie Mae Wheeler; her mother, Rosie Lee Pierson; daughter, Layonna Pierson; granddaughter, Rickisha Muse; sister, Barbara Pierson; her children’s father, William Webb; God-sister, Veronica Davis; brothers, Willie Fred Hodges and J.W. Hodges; aunts, Davie Lee Rodgers, and Annie Dean Rodgers; uncles, Willie Bob Rodgers, Gilbert Rodgers, and Eli Rodgers; nephew, John Lee Pierson; and cousins, Christie Thompkins, Bernard Matthews and Ricky Young of AL.
She leaves to cherish her memory: life partner of 23yrs, Deborah Burney; daughters, Tamala Pierson, Mathalene Pierson (Octavia) and Jamesina Pierson (Twyon); sons, Cedric Webb and Emon “Poochie” Edgecomb; son-in-law, Ronald Yates Jr.; grandchildren, Makeda Pierson, Ronnie Tolbert, Ronnell Tolbert, Anquenette Jones, Laniqua Jones, Moesha Jones, Ke’onte Thomas, Rickeda Muse, Ricky Muse, Rickee Muse, Ronald Yates, Rontayonna Yates, and Roshonna Yates; 17 great Grandchildren; sisters, Carrie Wheeler (Reggie) and Elaine Pierson (Butch); God-sister, Carolyn Moore; brothers, Bobby Pierson and Jerry Hodges; aunts, Mamie Jewel Thompkins and Peggy Lee Rodgers; nieces, Laukisha Crecy-(affectionately called daughter), Celestial Bedford, Christie Pierson, Sassy Pierson, Nyashia Williams, Andie Morrell, Simone Watson, Yvonne Hodges and Tonja Hodges; nephews, Larry Hodges, James Pierson, Al Baker Jr., William Myrick Jr., Bobby Pierson and Willie Fred Hodges Jr.; 13 plus other great nieces and nephews; cousins, Tammy Young (James), April Young, Marquia McCullough, Marqeosha Burgess, Evelyn Wilson, Mary Richardson, Marilyn Henry, Nancy Henry and Debra Gay; a host of other cousins, great nieces and nephews; very special loved ones/best friends forever “BFF’S” include, Annierea Grace, Simon, Judy Gillette and Gloria (MA), Darolyn Cogmon and Lily Saunders, Shannon Hagen, Iris Miller, Albert Edwards “Tae-Tae”, and Ann Lockett; and a host of other extended family members and friends. The visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, December 11, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
