Mrs. Ella Mae Godfrey of Tampa, Florida, departed this life on Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. Joseph Hospital. Her homegoing service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 @ 2 pm at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 2606 W. Grace Street, Pastor T. D. Leonard, with Reverend Zackery Robertson, of Evening Star Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Please follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
She was a native of Camilla, Georgia, but resided in Tampa, Florida for the past 46 years. She was a head cook/dietitian at Hillhaven Rehabilitation Center for approximately 33 years until her health started deteriorating. She was also a very devoted member of Evening Star Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church Pastor’s Aide Board Committee.
Mrs. Godfrey leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, John James Godfrey; daughters, Shirley (Lucho) Godfrey and Barbara Newberry of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Latreise (DeMorris) Collins, Joel Pierce Jr., Kenneth Shelton Jr., Denise Pierce, John Pierce, Luis Mosquera, Taleah Newberry and Angel Newberry of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren, Ashanti Lee, Jkai Chaniel, Tristen Davis, Madison Pierce, Sonya Joseph, Kenneth Shelton III, Zariah Pierce, Kimora Collins, Jade Pierce, Kingston Shelton, Ralph Bettis Jr., Nimia Mosquera, Anariah Pierce, London Mosquera, Nasir Bettis, Jayla Pierce, Chiante Starks Jr., King Pierce, James Frounfelter and Donnell Saylor Jr. of Tampa, FL; siblings, Mary (Willie) Johnson, Helen Laster, Sandra Mitchell, Brenda (Kenny) Roberson, of Pelham, GA, Gloria (Will) Wilson, Margaret (Eddie) Demps, Carla (Ricky) Salters, Walter (Lisa) Thompson of Homestead, FL; brother-in-law, Tommy (Sharon) Henderson of Bainbridge, GA, sister-in-law, Barbara Godfrey-Worlds of Tampa, FL; a very special aunt, Viola Sampson of Daytona, FL, and a special cousin, Carolyn James of Louisiana, New Orleans; God children, Carrol Holmes, Clarence Sullivan, Monique Sullivan, Joynita Jackson and Stevie Belle Jr.; Two very special friends, Barbara Fountain and Joyce Conyers; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, friends, extended family and the entire Evening Star Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church Family.
The visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 3 – 7 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
