Mrs. Flora Wynn Poitier of Tampa passed away Friday, January 24, 2020. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 8 at 11a.m. at Mount Sinai AME Zion Church, 2909 N. Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, FL with Reverend Velvet Caldwell, officiating. The repast will be held at the David Barksdale Recreation Center, 1801 N. Lincoln Avenue, Tampa, FL 33607.
Mrs. Flora Wynn Poitier was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, FL. She was educated by the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Middleton High School, Class of 1964. She furthered her education and was a graduate of Bethune-Cookman College, Class of 1967. Mrs. Poitier retired after 37 years of dedicated service as an Educator from the School District of Hillsborough County.
She leaves to mourn her life and celebrate her strong fight to live life with dignity and embrace death with grace: her husband, Frank, three daughters, Sharon, Kimberly, and Karla (Joseph); four grandsons, Raheem, Jordan, Kameron and Kemone; three great-grandchildren, Abel, Zuri, and Arianna; her twin sister and brother-in-law, Evora and Alvin Pimento and her oldest sister, Doretha Edgecomb; nieces, Gwendolyn Bates (James), Dianne Kelly (Andrew), Mildred Sturks, Angela Fullwood (Darrick), Allison Edgecomb, and Cherie Pimento-Bethune (Brian); cousins, Margaret Williams (Clifton, Sr.), Albert Curry, Henrietta Bryant, Carrye Rudd (Alfonso), Odell Stroud, Alice Cunningham, Marvin Sevillian (Madeline), Michelle Stewart (Ronald), and a circle other of loving relatives and devoted friends.
