Gregory Bruce, Sr.

Mr. Gregory James Bruce, Sr. of Tampa passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606 with Reverend Harold Doby, Jr., officiating. Mr. Gregory James Bruce, Sr. was a native of Ty Ty, Georgia and a resident of Tampa for 47 years.  He was educated in the public schools of Tifton, Georgia and was a graduate of Wilson High School. 

After graduation, Gregory enlisted into the United States Marine Corps where he served honorably until retirement.  Mr. Bruce enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, singing karaoke and he loved the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bull Dogs. 

He also loved socializing with his close friends at the Brahman, cooking salmon croquettes, watching westerns and listening to the Blues.  He will be missed for his sense of humor and funny jokes, his smile, story telling and his kind heart. 

He was preceded in death by: his parents, William Bruce, Sr. and Viola Bruce; and siblings, Mamie Atwater, William Bruce Jr., and Mary Alice Bailey. 

He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Odessa Bruce; daughters, Vanessa Spurlock (Twon) of Atlanta, GA, Nichele Bruce and Nicole Bruce, both of Tampa, FL; son, Gregory James Bruce, Jr. of Tampa, FL; 15 grandchildren, Bria A. J. Moore, Jayden Johnson, Alyric Stokes, Jeremiah Jenkins, Tyrell Pittman,  Jamari Bruce, Taneal Pittman, Na’zariyah Murray, Zariah Chatman, Jada Teixeira, Mya Teixeira, Jordan Bruce, Julian Bruce, Tianna McClendon, and Kameron Bruce; one great grandchild, Ria Moore; mother-in-law, Rebecca Hair; brothers-in-law, Claude Hair (Marcia), Zemmer Hair (Marva), Marshall Hair (Kathy), Edward Bailey, all of Tampa, FL and John Hair (Cynthia) of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law, Joann Williams (Ulysses), Daisy Vaz of Tampa, FL and Mary Bruce of Alabama; one aunt, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
