Hattie George Obituary

Mrs. Hattie Mae George of Auburndale, FL passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Body of Christ Church, 3921 East Osborne Avenue, Tampa FL 33610 with Pastor Daniel J. Maxwell, officiating.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Hattie Mae George was a native of Boston, GA and a resident of Tampa for over 50 years. She attended and completed her high school education in Boston, GA and was a membership partner of Lighthouse of Christ, LLC in Winter Haven, FL. She was employed as a childcare provider in Tampa for many years.  

Hattie Mae George was preceded in death by:  her husband, Dave James George, Sr.; parents, Lloyd and Lucy Lewis; sisters, Rosa Lee Newsome, Pearlie Mae Melvin, Ella Jean Robinson, Madine Green and Lillie Lattimore; brothers, James Lewis, Enos Lewis, Jimmy, Sylvester and R.C. Newsome and aunts, Addie Sailor, Mattie Brown and Truddie Willis. 

She leaves to cherish her memory:  two children, Patricia Lewis-Blue (Dywain) of Auburndale, FL and Dave J. George, Jr. of Tampa, FL; sisters, Effie Bennett of Tampa, FL and Delores Pickett (Murray) of Boston, GA; brothers, Joe Lewis (Ossie) of Miami, FL, Lloyd Lewis (Darlene) of Savannah, GA and Eddie Lewis (Dovetose) of Boston, GA; grandchildren, Beaufort McCray, Jr., Kevin McCray (Kierra), Derrick Blue, Deneisha Blue, Jessica Blue, Marquis Frazier and Angela Frazier; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and special friend, Jerry Ann Norton.  

 A smile that will forever be ingrained in our memory, Mrs. Mae was a caring and gentle soul who would just radiate joy. I was blessed to have had the pleasure of caring for my mom, it was my greatest honor, and I am grateful to have shared in her final time here on this side. May she continue to smile with the angels. 

The remains will repose from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
