Mother Helen C. Gowins of Tampa, Florida passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Mount Olive AME Church, 1902 W. LaSalle Street., Tampa, FL 33607 with Reverend Gregory V. Gay, Pastor; Pastor Adrian R. Gay, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610. MASK RECOMMENDED.
Mother Gowins was a native of Tampa, Florida. She accepted Jesus Christ in her heart at an early age. She attended the public schools of Hillsborough County and graduated with the Middleton High School, Class of 1961. She worked for 31 years at The Tampa Hillsborough Urban League. She was a faithful member of Macedonia M.B. Church of Zephyrhills, FL for 11 years and was a woman of prayer, who loved spending time with her granddaughters and singing.
She was preceded in death by: her Husband, Leroy Gowins; Mother, Beatrice Warmack; Grandmother, Marguerite Williams; and Brothers, Harold Warmack and William Warmack.
She leaves to cherish her memories with her Daughter, Dyeronda G. Gay; Son-in-Law, Pastor Adrian R Gay; three beautiful and faithful Granddaughters, Kirsten D. Gowins, Kiera D. Gay, and Khayla D. Gay; two Brothers, Theodore Williams and Thomas V. Warmack (Mageline); two Sisters-in-Law, Rosetta Barnes and Ethel Scott; Nieces, Daphne Williams, Vernetta Warmack, Tiffany Good (Gene), Andrea Warmack, Devin Warmack, Rosalinda Tillman, Yolanda Tillman, Cynthia Smith, Patricia Gowins, Anna Johnson (Oscar), Tracy Edwards, Alexia Loud (Derrick) and Donna Scott; Nephews, Theodore Williams Jr., Thomas Brian Warmack, William Warmack, Eddie Tillman, Jonas Tillman, Freeman Frazier, Eric Frazier, Adolphus Barnes, Gerard Scott, Carl Gowins, Corey Gowins, Tony Duhart (Tabitha) and Andre Gowins; Cousin, Marguerite Williams; two God Daughters, Kimberly Mitchell of Atlanta, GA and Brandy Burrell; Best friends, Sharell Carter and Gertha Crawford; Adopted God Daughter, Elder Mary Williams; along with a host of other sorrowful family members and friends.
