Irene West Obituary

Mother Irene Andrews West of Temple Terrace passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020.  A Celebration of Life service will be conducted Saturday, February 29 at 2 p.m. at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 Chipco St., with Pastor John Lang, officiating and Elder Timothy J. Kemp, eulogist.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. 

Mother Irene Andrews West was born in Beatrice, AL on August 22, 1934. She was married to Samuel West and they were blessed with 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls. They shared joys and sorrows for 61 years.  She was a faithful member and Mother of the church at Peace Progressive initially under the leadership of Elder Joseph Jefferson, as well as Elder Benjamin Adams, Elder Willie Gibson and presently Elder Timothy J. Kemp. Mother West was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother and friend and always had a smile to share.   

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Nannie Andrews; father, Mr. and Mrs. Horace (Callie) Andrews; son, Ulysses “C” West;  in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Ed (Hattie) West; adopted mother, Willie Bea Jackson; brothers, Frankie, Kenneth and Felix Andrews; and sister-in-law, Mary Benton-Andrews; adopted brother, Eugene Jackson Sr.; brother-in-law, Mack West; sisters-in-law, Lottie Thigpen and Laura Parker; niece, Wanda Faye Lemons; nephew, Robert Lang; and grandson, Tyrie Gunn.  She leaves to cherish her most precious memories: A devoted and loving husband, Samuel Lee West; seven children, Barbara (Curtis) Shazer, Darrell (Talisa) West, Voncille Richardson, Nannett West, Michael (Terri) West, Tawanna West, and Addarryl West; adopted children, Johnnie Jackson Sr., Kenneth Pattersaul and Rudine Givens; twenty-one grandchildren, Nakeesha, Nigel, Timothy, Aisha, Ashley, Latoya, Kassavia, Lanika, Michael Jr., CJ, Robert, Milaysha, Aderrika, Indya, Addaryl Jr., Curtnitra, Curtegra (Jorenski), Teyaqua, Tkechi, Kim and Oscar; great-grandchildren, Elija, Emari, Elias, Jayden, Josiah, Kaniyah, Jeremiah, Nigel Jr., Zaniyah, Nyonnah, Nadiyah, Keiton, Jordan, Cameron, Kianna, Arianna, Jayden, Jordan, Ayden, Kai‘ssady, Nae’Yonni, Jorenski Jr., Aubrey, Ricky, ZaQion, and Zikeytrice; great-great-granddaughter, Faith; sisters, Murlean, Joyce and Ann Andrews; brothers, Jerry Andrews and Terry (Tequila) Andrews; a host of nieces and nephews, Cato, Lang, Williams, Lemons, Stitts, Andrews, Thigpen, and the Butlers families; cousins, Taylor and Stallworth; special friends of the family, Annie Adkins and family, LeeAnn Dell and family, Jones Family, Zellwanna White and family, Patricia and William Durham, Talisa Jordan, Davis and Lockett family, Mother Emmanuel, Barbara Simmons and family, Marilyn Williams and family, Ms. Gloria “Glo” Fowler and Retha “Lil Bit” Jefferson, Beleria Floyd and Joann and Curtis Marshall, Crystal Walker, Family pet - Roxie West; her personal prayer warrior, Mr. Joel Washington; Antwan Brown and Center Park Village, and the Peace Progressive church family. 

The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, February 28 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue.
