Jacob Scott Obituary

Mr. Jacob Wesley “J-Boy” Scott passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Greater Bethel M. B. Church, Inc., 1207 N. Jefferson Street, Tampa, FL 33602. Reverend Dr. Brett Snowden, Officiating. Interment to follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. MASK RECOMMENDED.

Jacob was born and reared in Tampa, Fl. where he attended the Hillsborough County Public School system.   God blessed Jacob with 73 years of life, one of thirteen children born to Deacon Harold Billingslea Scott, Sr., and Mrs. Lucile Willis Scott. Jacob’s parents always bowed themselves to Almighty God and trained all of their children in the word and ways of God.  Jacob was named by his godfather, Rev. Jacob Wesley Rhodes, one of the former pastors of Greater Bethel M. B. Church.  Jacob’s pride and joy was his daughter, Mrs. Pashon Delaney and her two sons who reside in Hawaii.  Having many consequences and challenges in life, Jacob’s health began to fail, and he suffered much.  In recent years, he humbled himself before God, demonstrated his repentance, and renewed obedience to The Lord Jesus Christ by reconnecting with Greater Bethel M. B. Church.  He was able to attend worship services with the help of his devoted caregiver, Ms. Beverly Bryant, as long as he was able.  Jacob lifted his heart and eyes upon the hills from whence his help came.  Praise The Lord Jesus the Christ!

In addition to his parents, siblings preceding him into eternal rest are:  3 brothers, Arthur B. Scott, Dea. Harold B. Scott, Jr., and William E. Scott; 2 sisters, Roberta Scott Wilder and Annie Theresa Scott; and 3 siblings died in infancy.

Jacob leaves to cherish his memories with his significant other and caregiver, Ms. Beverly Bryant; daughter, Pashon B. Delaney, and family of Hawaii; two brothers, Reverend Shafter E. Scott (Evalina), Plant City, Fl, and Andrew G. Scott of Tampa; two sisters, Carol Scott and family, and Harriet L. Scott of Tampa; sister-in-law, Mrs. Diane Lane Scott; aunt, Mrs.  Ada Bell Hunt of Alauchua, Fl; nephews, Frederick (Gloria) Deere, Melvin Wilder, Jr., Rev. Harold R. (Rev. Debra) Scott, Harold B. III (Sheila), Eric (Gretchen) Scott, and Curtis Scott; nieces, Carolyn Scott, Carrie Scott, Vannetta Scott, Francia Scott, Debbie (Maurice) Brown, Theresa Davis, Harriet Elizabeth Close (Jimmy), Regina Johnson and family, and Lucile Swanson and family of Tennessee; and a host of great nephews and nieces, cousins, church members and friends.

The visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Greater Bethel M. B. Church, Inc., 1207 N. Jefferson Street, Tampa, Fl 33602.  MASK RECOMMENDED.
