Mr. James Tillman affectionately known as DJ “Daddy Kool” of Tampa passed away Monday, September 28, 2020. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue with Reverend Gregory Gay, Sr., officiating. Please follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
Mr. James Tillman was a native of Monticello, Florida and a resident of Tampa for 60 years. He was a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School and was a member of Mount Olive AME Church.
He was preceded in death by: mother, Pinkie Tillman; father, Willie Tillman; siblings, Lucille Tillman-Armstrong, Pinkie Nicolas, Rosa Williams, Roosevelt Tillman, Sidney Tillman and Johnas Tillman Sr.; nieces, Shirley Fleming, Martha Johnson-Gunn and Lucille Johnson; and nephews, Carlton Tillman and Carsel Armstrong.
He leaves to cherish his memory: nephews, Johnas “Cooter” Tillman Jr., Eddie Gowins, Jonas Tillman (LaTrenda), Frankie Williams, and David Williams (Sene); nieces, Rosalind Tillman and Yolanda Tillman; a host of great and great great nieces and nephews; best friend, Jimmy “Jap” Bivens; special family and friends, Ruby Johnson and family, Lillie Nichols and family, Edward and Frances Jennings and family, the Johnson family and the Armstrong family; friends, Martha Calten, Mary Toombs, Shirley, Mary Hicks, Andre Arenas, Greg Williams, Gary Ford, Rickie Bo, Rick G. Angie, Theresa McGhee, Johnny, James Walton, Dewayne, Mike B., J.D., Reggie West, Joel, Nicole, Joe B., Robert, Tracy, Craig, Fred, Moe, Joann and Joe; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to service 12 Noon until 1 p.m. Friday, October 2, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
