Joan V. Williams

Mrs. Joan V. Williams of Riverview, FL passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021. Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, 12:00 Noon at Brown Memorial COGIC,  2313 East 27th Avenue, Tampa FL 33605, with Bishop Anthony Gilyard, Officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

Mrs. Joan Williams was a native of Fayetteville, NC and a resident of Tampa for 60 plus years. She attended the Hillsborough County Public Schools and was a faithful member of Brown Memorial COGIC for 35 years. She was employed by the Hillsborough County School Board and retired as a Special Education Teacher who worked with disabled children and young adults at LaVoy and Caminiti Exceptional Centers for 34 years. 

Joan was preceded in death by her loving mother, Minnie B. Person. 

She leaves to cherish her memory:  5 Children, daughters, Sheryal Baker (Charity Sr.) and Remecia Oliver (Johnny Jr.); sons, Marlon Fields, James Wright and Jason Scott; 13 grandchildren, Charity Baker Jr. (Jasmine), Christopher, Bryce and Brynan Baker, Mya Fields, Johnny Oliver III, Jontrell, Jayden, Jakai, Jaxsen, Jade and Jazlon Oliver, and Jaelin Everett;  2 great granddaughters, Naomi and London Baker.

Joan was blessed to have an extended family:  sisters and brothers, Jessie Williams, Shirley Jackson, Gail Reeves, Joe Sparks, James Taylor, Ghana Thompson, Sharon Crandell (Sammie), James and Tonya Crandall, Calvin Fisher (Rita), Darlene James, Joseph Logan, and Debra Fulks; and a host of nieces and nephews; very special friends and co-workers, Terri Pittman, The Golden Girls Crew -Valarie Clark, Angela Anderson and Anita Shaw, Emma and Edward Ford, Elder Tommy and Mother Jones, Marquit Hampton, Tammy Kavanaugh, Molly Hall, Ronna Hellman, Mrs. Vera, and Ms. Dwan; a host of church members, neighbors, and friends who all can't be named, but will not be forgotten.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon (one hour prior to the Homegoing Service) on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Brown Memorial COGIC, 2313 East 27th Avenue, Tampa FL 33605.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
