Deacon John A. Huggins, Sr. of Riverview, Florida passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 22, at 2:00 P. M. at Greater New Salem Primitive Baptist Church, 1605 N. Nebraska Avenue, Elder Elmer Wilson, officiating with Pastor Benjamin Curry, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Masks are required.
Deacon John A. Huggins, Sr. was a native of Capitola, Florida, and a resident of Tampa Bay for 41 years. He attended the public schools of Leon County, graduated from Rickards High School and Pasco-Hernando Community College. He was a self-employed contractor and landscaper.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Linda Blaylock-Huggins; 7 children, Raynetta Mason (Vincent) of Charlotte, NC, Kashi Duckworth (Cedric) of Tallahassee, FL, Deonte’ Singletery of Kansas, DeShawnte’ Niles, Shanika Huggins (Sterling), John II (Bianca), JonQuavia Jae’ Huggins all of Tampa, FL; 12 grandchildren, Gabrielle Darnell, Jeremy, Rayvin, Deonte’ Jr., Darren, DeSean, Landon, McKenzie, Kennedy, Jonas, and Jayce; one sister, Julia Randle (Emette) of Little Rock, AK; 3 brothers, Harold Huggins (Ruth) of Georgia, James Huggins (Anne), and Albert Glenn of New York; 3 sisters-in-law, LaVerne Blaylock Clarke and Sonya Jackson of Tampa, FL and Michelle White of Virginia; 6 brothers-in-law, Mitch Snow (Jessica) of Atlanta, Ronald Blaylock (Cassandra), Michael Blaylock, Frederick Blaylock (Robin), Andre Blaylock, and Kippy Vasquez of Tampa; loving uncle and father figure to, Brenda “Kay” Roberts, Regina “Gennette” (Alvin) Gaines, Theba Huggins, Phyllis Huggins, Karen Jackson-Timmons, Byron Herring, Shemeka (Jason) Grundy, Sean Blaylock, Sierra Overstreet, Kasey Blaylock, Jovie Blaylock, Ashley (Michael) Howard, Morgan Everheart, and James Huggins, Jr.; and a host of other cherished nieces and nephews; god children, Vyrshaun Williams, Christina Wilson, Madison Jenkins, Thaddeus Arizona Jenkins, Chad Jenkins, Malaysia Barrett (her Papa), Michael Pope (his Papa), Jayonie Tolbert, Messiah Smith, Ashton Wright, Michael Major, and Roneshia Leath; spiritual daughters, Ivanna Tribble, Nuwoo Pope, Jasmine Tilley, Marlica Tilley, LaDoris Morris, and Jayla Robinson; close family and friends, The Kilpatrick, Jenkins, Norton, Butler, Walker, Major, Coley, Bunton, Wilson/Hall families, Miss Dora Mae, Deacon and Mrs. Anderson, Deacon Holley, Bessie Coolidge, John Bacon, Tony Williams, and host of other sorrowing relatives and friends.
The remains will repose from 4 - 7 P. M. Friday, May 21 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. Masks are required.
