Katheryn Lepard Obituary

God called our dear loved one, Rev. Dr. Katheryn L. Lepard of Tampa, home to rest on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, Pastor Gregory Davis of St. Mary M.B. Church, Hull, FL, Officiating and Eulogist. MASKS ARE REQUIRED. The final resting place will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Dr. Lepard, a native of Tampa, was born on September 24, 1940 to James and Lillie Mathis. She was educated in the Hillsborough County Private and Public Schools, graduating from Middleton High School Class of 1958. Dr. Lepard continued her studies at Hillsborough Community College, Washington University School of Art, St. Louis, MO, and Traphagen School of Art, New York City. She also received a Doctorate in Metaphysics.  She was employed as an illustrator for the Academy of Natural Science in Philadelphia, PA. She also Illustrated a township report manual for Lower Marian Township in Philadelphia, PA. In Philadelphia, she met and married Army Sergeant Larrie E. Lepard. She remained faithful to her husband until he was called from his earthly service to be with the Lord.

During their union, the Lepards were stationed and lived in Nuremberg, Germany for two years where they were blessed with their devoted son, Rev. Larrie C. Lepard, Sr. After returning to the United States, Dr. Lepard worked as a Fashion Illustrator for the Parisian Fashion Store in Lawton, OK. Dr. Lepard and family returned to Tampa where she started Lepard’s Assisted Living Facility which she maintained for over 20 years.

Dr. Lepard continued to serve her family, community and loved ones through her love of the Lord and Art until the Lord called her to her heavenly home. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sgt. Larrie E. Lepard, and her parents, James and Lillie Mathis.

Dr. Lepard leaves to mourn her, a devoted son, Rev. Larrie C. (Kawhana) Lepard; longtime companion for over 20 years, Angel Manuel Perez; grandchildren, Melonie Lepard, Larrie C. Lepard, Jr., Jamie Dawson, Malek Hall, and Daniel Newton Lepard; great-grandchild, Kemry N. Stargell; a devoted friend for over 70 years, Carol Williams; and a host of sorrowing family and friends.

The remains will repose from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 22 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
