Mrs. Maggie Mae Harris of Tampa passed away Friday, February 19, 2021. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 27 at 9 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Ave., with Reverend Bruce E. Garman, Sr., officiating. Interment followed in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Maggie Mae Harris was born to the union of John Henry and Vandene Johnson in Ocilla, Georgia. She lived there until moving to Tampa in 1959. Maggie was joined in matrimony to the late Jonas Harris, Sr. on September 23, 1947. This union was blessed with five children.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jonas Harris, Sr.; her parents, John Henry and Vandene Johnson; and siblings, Mary Francis Love and Nelson Johnson.
Maggie accepted Christ at an early age in Georgia. She was a member of Mt. Tabor M. B. Baptist Church when in arriving in Florida. She later moved her membership to First Union M. B. Church where she was a faithful member for over 40 years. She worked diligently with their Mission Board and attended church regularly until her health declined.
She was employed for a short while as CNA working for Veazy Nursing Home and Maria Manor. Maggie was an avid fan of sports including the Bucs and her beloved Tampa Bay Rays attending their games when she could. She was a collector of dolls with a large display of various dolls and figurines. She loved to cook and spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Maggie leaves to cherish her loving memories: children, Husher L. Harris, Jonas Harris, Jr. (Audrey), Magdalene Warmack (Thomas), Clifford Harris and Darlene Harris; grandchildren, Kerrie Harris Pabon, Husher L. Harris II (Carmalita), Thomas B. Warmack, Antonio R. Gary, Tiffany Warmack Good (Gene), Zena Harris Knight, Clifton Thomas, Tiffany Thomas, Nicholas Harris, Tamari Harris, Tieara Harris and Dillion Harris; sister-in-law, Ola Mae Thomas; and great nephew like a son, Rev. Tony Harris (LaTonya); God-grandchildren, Wachena Woodard, Marcus Holton and Marcel Brantley (Chanty); Special friends, Edith Creary, Athea Chappell, Egertha Green, Lauranell Mosley, Brenda Williams and Pearl Harris; and a host of Great-Grands, Great-Great Grands, Nieces, Great-Nieces, Nephews, Great-Nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
The remains reposed from 3 – 7 p.m. Thursday, February 25 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
