Malachi Baker Obituary

Mr. Malachi "Ronnie" Baker of Clearwater, Florida passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021.  Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, 1:00 p.m. at Church of The Living God Gateway to Heaven, 3815 Phillips Street, Tampa, FL 33619 with Bishop Stokes, officiating.  Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

Malachi Baker was born in Dublin, Georgia on Feb 3,1945 to Richard Lee George and Ruby Barker.  Malachi's preferred name was "Ronnie".  He graduated in 1969 from Trutlen County Training School.

At an early age, he gave his life to the Lord. However, years later he rededicated his life to the Lord. When the Lord rescued his life, his response was never looking back. He was a praying man who loved to sing. He was a very faithful and committed Deacon at Church of the Living God Gateway to Heaven. He was very instrumental with the construction of the new edifices. This was one of his greatest achievements.

Mr. Baker was the proud owner of Baker Roofing Company.  In 2007, he married the love of his life, Katrina Baker.  He was a remarkable family man with a contagious smile that would illuminate a room. He honored and loved his mother and was a caring, and understanding father.

Deacon Baker would often say “I have laid up my timber and now I’m drawing from it." On Monday, August 30, 2021, he took his last draw here on earth. He answered his Savior's calling to come home. We can imagine he’s now rejoicing with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by:  his father, Richard Lee George and sons, Carlton Baker and Kwame Baker and brother, Monroe Graham.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Deaconess Katrina Baker; mother, Pastor Ruby Baker; 19 children, Monique Little, Carolyn Baker, Malachi Baker, Jr. (Dominique), Ronnie Baker, Malcolm Baker (Regina), Cedric Harris (June), Stephanie Baker (Johny), Timothy Baker (Makisha), T. J. Hudson, Matthew Baker (Julia), Tawana Baker, Taquanda Baker, Gregory Baker (Yolanda), Phelan Little (Dion), Twan Hudson, April Bivens, and Tremel Bivens; brother, John Graham and a host of family and friends.

The remains will repose from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.    MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
