Mrs. Margaret Marie Dunlap Long of Tampa passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of College Hill, 3838 N. 29th Street Tampa, FL 33610, Dr. S. Evan Burrows, Sr. Pastor with Elder Benjamin Adams, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
Mrs. Margaret Long was a native of Tampa and a resident her entire life.
She attended Howard W. Blake High School. Upon graduation, she continued her education at Florida A&M University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Library Sciences. She was a member of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Tampa. Mrs. Long was also a member of the Red Hatters.
She retired as a Librarian/Media Specialist with the Hillsborough County Public Schools.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Loving and dedicated husband, Leroy Long of over 52 years; their three daughters, Sonia Long of Tampa, FL, Nicole Long Campbell (Randall) of Frisco, Texas and Nadine Long of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Jordan English and Sukari Mack of Tampa, FL, and Breanna, Madison and Ryan Campbell of Frisco, TX; one great granddaughter, Taliyah Toliver of Tampa, FL; two brothers-in-law, James Long (Maggie) of Jacksonville, FL and Michael Long (Renette) of Wimauma, FL; two sisters-in-law, Sheryl Long Wright of Ocala, FL and LeNora Long of Tampa, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The remains will repose after 5 p.m. Friday, November 29 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
