Marie J. Agenor was born in Lacul Petit Goave, Haiti. She attended Immaculate Conception Boarding school and later migrated to Brooklyn, NY in April 1966 at the age of 18. She spent over 40 years working for the City of New York coordinating the appropriate Medicare and Medicaid benefits for the local community. Marie enjoyed traveling, dancing, artwork and on . . . She had a deep appreciation for other countries, people, languages, traditions and cultural norms.
Her heroine is Mother Mary, as a single mother. She loved to pray because she believed that God answers prayers. She relied on those prayers while raising her son, Joël. She believed that the man Joël has become was the result of her prayers.

She is survived by: her only son, Joel J. Sylvain; granddaughter, Tyler A. Sylvain; daughter-in- law, Pearl Williams-Sylvain; brothers, Eddy Agenor, Michel Agenor, Jean Claude Dargout, Carlos Agenor, Jackie Agenor, Dady Agenor, Mario Agenor; sisters, Veronica Gilles, Florence Agenor, Angel Agenor, Leilene Agenor and many others; nephews, Frantzy Agenor, Jackson Agenor, Jean Michel Agenor, Michelet Agenor, Deddy Agenor, Jean Agenor, Johnny Agenor, Jean Claude Dargout Jr, Juan Carlos Dargout, and nieces Sara Jean Agenor, Jesula Agenor, Jacqueline Agenor, Verladesh Gilles, Nicadia Gilles, Rotunda Dargout, and all of her cousins Dargout family, Chauvet family, Agenor family and Dassy family.
