Maritha Swepson Obituary

Mrs. Maritha S. Swepson, of Riverview, Florida passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020.  Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 8 at 2 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue with Dr. Ernest Boone, Pastor, officiating.  Please follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required. 

Mrs. Maritha S. Swepson, affectionately known as “Martha Ann”, was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, Florida born to Augustus Symonette and Daisy Henderson.  She was educated by the public schools of Hillsborough County and was a graduate of Howard W. Blake High School. 

Maritha retired from GTE, after 25 years of dedicated service and she was the proud owner of Love Your Child Daycare, Tampa, FL.  She was a member of Great Commission Church and she was the loving wife of Elder Walter Swepson. 

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Augustus Symonette and Daisy Henderson; siblings, Augustus Laurance Symonette, Alvin Symonette, Micheal Symonette, Emily Henderson, and Delores E. Smith. 

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Elder Walter Swepson; children, Clarence Davis and wife Brennadette G. Davis, Walter E. Swepson, Jr., Carlos O. Swepson and wife Serita Swepson, Tarsha A. Lockley, and Bevian M. Swepson; grandson, Brendan Davis and a host of other  grandchildren; siblings, Stephanie Symonette, Hazel Symonette, Patrick Henderson, Ruben Symonette, Monia William Guy, Sara LaKaye Symonette Rainey, Ade Ajamu, Maurice Woodside, Lee F. Henderson, Marcel Tomlin, Enid Perry, Brian Symonette, Alan Symonette, Val Smith, Shirley Swepson, Arnold Swepson and wife Vassi Swepson, Mary Lou Young and husband Linwood Young, and Christopher Swepson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, other relatives and friends. 

The visitation will be held Friday, August 7, 3-7 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue. We are asking family and friends to follow the CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
