Mother Dorothy Irene Seymore of Temple Terrace, FL, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, 11:00 a.m. at Brown Memorial Church of God in Christ, 2313 East 27th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605, with Bishop Anthony W. Gilyard Officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Dorothy Irene Seymore was a native of Long Island, New York, and a resident of Tampa for 23 years. She attended Southampton High School and was a member of Kings Temple COGIC in New York. She was employed as a Nurse Aid and Bus Driver. She was a devoted mother and took pride in taking care of her family. She became and took classes for Nurse Aid in New York and worked in Brunswick Hospital for many years. She then changed her profession to become a school bus driver, where she was loved by her students and coworkers. She then moved with her husband to Tampa, FL, and went back to being a nurse aid in Carrollwood Care for some years. Dorothy loved singing and attending COGIC King Temple, where her husband directed the choir, George Seymore.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Pastor John Jefferson and Missionary Mary Lee Jefferson; sisters, Penny Steward, RoseMary Jefferson, Elizabeth Steward, and Marion Raine; brothers, Jessie Lee Jefferson, and Eugene Jefferson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Dorothy Marie Seymore, Betty Seymore, Denise Seymore, and George Seymore; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Gloria Permento and Delores Miller; and her beloved church family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 01, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Memorial Church of God in Christ, 2313 East 27th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605.
