Mother Edna Johnson Obituary

Mother Edna Mae Johnson of Tampa, FL passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Cathedral Church of God in Christ, 6450 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584, Pastor J. H. Smalley, with Pastor Corey Singletary, Sr., Officiating. Interment will follow at Mayberry Cemetery, 10906 Bessie Dix Road, Seffner, FL 33584

Mother Edna Johnson was a native and lifelong resident of Tampa, FL, for all of her 97 years. She was a faithful wife to her late husband of 65 years, Andrew Johnson. Together, they raised nine children and welcomed many others into their home. She attended public school in Hillsborough County.

Prior to her passing, she was a faithful member of New Faith Temple COGIC in Thonotosassa, FL. At a young age, she attended Sanders Chapel in Seffner, FL under the leadership of the late Elder Hezekiah Sanders. It was there that she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost and was saved.

She and her husband, Deacon Andrew Johnson, later became devoted members of Faith Temple under the leadership of the late Superintendent Jadie M. Singletary. During her membership, she served as Church Mother, Pastor’s Aid Mother, and was a licensed Missionary in the Church of God in Christ. Following Superintendent Singletary’s passing, she continued her walk of faith at New Faith Temple. In her final months, she was lovingly pastored by her grandson, Pastor Corey Singletary, Sr.

She also faithfully served in the private residence of Mrs. Stella Thayer.

She was preceded in death by: her Husband of 65 years, Andrew Johnson; her Children, Belton Johnson, Clarence Johnson, and Annie Gadson; her Siblings, Joseph Stillings, Albertha Franklin, Lamarcus W. Stillings, and Frances Grier; Sisters-In-Law, Laura Smalley, Evelyn Cooper, and Oris Stillings.

She leaves to cherish her memory:  Children, Loretta Johnson-Brown, Edna Williams, Andrew Johnson (Marcia), Rosa Outlaw (James), Gregory Johnson, and Yvette Johnson-Evans; God-son, LaMarcus Huggins (Chun); Grandchildren, Alphonso Johnson, Mikal Sabr, Crawford Brown, Cedric Brown, Katharis Gadson, Maurice Brown, Joseph Gadson, Alexander Johnson, Corey Singletary (Ciara), James Outlaw, Jr., Jack Evans (Brittney), Isaiah Outlaw, Joshua Outlaw, Regina Manning, Kiwana Hawkins (Jaime), Ursula Fluellen, Andrea Adams (Carlos), Gabrielle Gadson, Chakera Johnson, Collette Armstead (Dana), Amber Johnson, Jasmine Allen, Joshua Allen, Jordan Allen, Cho L. Canady, and Samantha Huggins; Sister-In-Law, Mary Anne Miller; Daughter-In-Law, Louise Johnson.
Additionally, she leaves over 25 great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Wake will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at New Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, 9834 Rockhill Road, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
