Mr. Charles Ray “Chuck” Hughes of Tampa, FL passed away on Saturday December 3, 2022. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday December 17, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue Tampa FL 33606. MASK RECOMMENDED.

Mr. Charles Ray “Chuck” Hughes was born on May 16, 1948, to parents La-Verne Hughes Morris and Albert Sloan in Sarasota, Florida. Chuck was educated in both Sarasota and Hillsborough County Schools. He maintained an occupation as a Long-haul Furniture Delivery Driver for many years.

Chuck was a United States Marine who was honorably discharged. His service included Active Duty in the Vietnam War. He maintained his brotherhood and was an active member in Vietnam Veterans of America.

Chuck was preceded in death by: his daughter, Charlese Raylene Hughes; grandson, Taeshod Andrews; great-grandson, Phoenix Nasir Hughes; mother, La-Verne Morris; stepfather, Anderson Morris; father, Albert Sloan; sister, Bonita Norton; and stepbrothers, Reginald Wilcox, and Terry Morris.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Yulanda (Isiaq) Bakare, Dishonda Hughes, Kristi Hughes, Kyle (Monique) Hughes, Ronese Hughes, Lysonia Hudson, Henry Hughes, Vougina Hughes, LuTwan (Ilayna) Hughes, Sr., and Theodore (Areal) Hughes; niece like a daughter, Tatanisha (Jermaine) Dixon; grandchildren, Ibrahim Bakare, Idris Bakare, Lloyd (Ycorie) Henderson, Brittany Henderson, Clifford Hughes, Chelsea Hughes, Kevin Webb, Nathaniel Hughes, McKenzie Hughes, Paeton Hughes, Ethan Hughes, Alexandria Blair, Delarosa Blair, Jr., Peter (Patricia) Blair, Erica Hughes, Ronnie Lee (Raquel) Andrews, Jr., Ronniqua Andrews, Ronquaya Andrews, Hennashia Hughes, Henry Hughes, Jr., Camorrie Hughes, Antonio Powell, Jr., Yakema Hughes, Taurus Gadsen, Jr., Bryce Harris, LuTwan Hughes, Jr., Jacoby Hughes, Price Bush, Lisa Ray Bush, Vegas Bush, Trust Bush, Cordell Hughes, and Coralisa Hughes; 24 great grandchildren; siblings, Cornelius (Velma) Hughes, Brenda (Dwight) Davis, Vickie (Valvillis, Sr.) Young, and Arvin (Joyce) Morris; cousin like a sister, Portia (William) Kearns; cousin like a brother, Kennedy (Margaret) Hughes, Sr.; sister-in-law, Sarah Wilcox; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Norton; good friends, Antwan Hernandez, and J. C. Gardner; and a host of countless sorrowing nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue Tampa, FL 33606. MASK RECOMMENDED.
