Mr. Charles Edward Jacobs

Mr. Charles Edward Jacobs of Chicago, IL, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, 4:00 pm at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Rev. Nelson Shellman, Officiating.

Mr. Charles Edward Jacobs was a native of Tampa, FL. He attended King High School and enlisted in the US Navy and served honorably. Charles was employed by Embassy Suites and retired after 20 years of service as a Chef. He moved to Chicago and pursued his dreams. Along with cooking, Charles loved to travel. Over the years, Mr. Jacobs traveled to places such as Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, the UK, and his favorite place, Toronto. In his travels, he met and became friends with people in Montreal, London, Switzerland, Milan, Brazil, and even as far as Hong Kong and Australia. He met the love of his life, Antonio Augusto, in 2017 in his hometown of Tampa, FL through mutual friends. They were married on July 25, 2019.

Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by the following ancestors: Mother, Willie Mae Jacobs (Doris Williams); Father, Andrew Lewis Bell, Sr.; Grandmother, Dorothy Mae Ritman-Jacobs; Sister, Carolyn Denise Walker (Pokey); Brother, Eugene (Suzette) Bell, Sr.; and Uncle, Willie B. Donaldson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his husband, Antonio Augusto; brothers, Bruce Alexander Johnson, Andrew Bell, Jr., and Jerome (Lisa) Bell; sisters, Rose (Mark) McCauley, Patricia (Nelson) Chapper, Betty (Lloyd) Foster, and Sarah A. Bell; uncles, Willie Jacobs, Jr., Christopher Jacobs, Herman Jacobs, and Herbert Jacobs; aunts, Carrie Bell, Veriginell Donaldson, Jessica Kegler (Josie), Terri Denise Jacobs-Ricketts, and Cassandra (Ronald) Brown; nephew, Ayden Emmanuel; cousins, Lavain Tyrone Robinson, Jamel Jacobs, Curtis Jacobs, Joe Jacobs, Jamaye McKinney, and Bridget Jacobs; and a plethora of friends from all over the world.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
