Obituary
Mr. Charlie Eugene Benson, 97, passed away on Thursday August 17, 2023. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, 11005 U.S. Highway 301 North, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
Charlie Benson was born on April 17, 1926, in Dothan, Alabama to C.D. Benson and Rena Benson. Charlie Benson was a long-time resident of Progress Village. He served in the US Navy, then he began working for the City of Tampa Sanitation Department. He then married Marie Benson. He enjoyed fishing, talking on the C.B. and riding motorcycles; he was very active in the Senior Community until his death.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Marie Benson; son, Rexa Burke; father C.B. Benson; and mother, Rena Benson.
He is survived by: two daughters, Ruby L. Benson, and Debra Burke Harris; special friend, Coach Tony; and a host of family and friends.
