Mr. Charlie Vernon Jr.

Mr. Charlie Vernon Jr. of Tampa, FL passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33606 with Rev. Jesse Clemons, officiating.

Charlie Vernon Jr., a native of Tampa, FL was born to late Charlie and Bertha Vernon on December 31, 1958. He was the fourth child of six children. Charlie was educated in

Hillsborough County. He attended George Washington Carver Elementary School, Ernest E.

Just Middle School and graduated in the Class of 1975 of Leto Senior High School. Charlie received Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church. Charlie worked for the City of Tampa and Christ’s Plumbing Services Inc-Septic Service, until his injury. He later opened his own Lawncare business, where he had a great eye for the beautification of lawns.

Charlie was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie and Bertha Vernon; brothers,

Derwin B. Vernon and Curtis Vernon; sisters, Alveda S Vernon and Darlene V. Reed;

grandparents, John Wesley, Rachael Alveda Ballard, and Isreal and Mamie Vernon;

nephew, Carter Reed Jr.; and great nephew, Dakota J. Boatwright.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his sons, Michael Vernon (Unique), Mario

Vernon, Maurice Vernon, and Theordrick Holmes; daughter, Charlotte Givens (Gary

Jr.); grandchildren, Chayla Vernon, Moya Vernon, Michael Vernon II, Shakayla Vernon, Jamesha Vernon, Marianna Vernon, Chamariah Vernon, Kelis Palmore, Mariah Vernon, Mario Vernon Jr.,

Taraji Vernon, Taj Harris, Joseph Vernon, Dylan Vernon, Amber Vernon, Amara Vernon, Isabella Vernon, Theordrick Holmes Jr., Janayla Holmes, Jatajiah Wilson, Jasmine Holmes, Gary Givens III, Zoe Givens, Elijah Givens, Dillon Givens, and Preston Givens; great-grandchildren, Lei’Ani, Sosa, Aarmani, Arionne, Ke’Auri, Serenity, Ty’lan, and Aleam Jr and Skylar; sister, Mamie C Vernon-Igles (Rudene); brother, Len S Vernon Sr (Belinda); nephews, Damien J Boatwright Sr., Len Vernon Jr., Derwin Vernon, Len S. Vernon, Loren Vernon, Marcel Vernon, and Rudene Igles Jr.; nieces, Erika Clemon-Carter, Lanishia Vernon, Princess Vernon, Kalen Vernon, Nikesh Vernon, and Temesha Vernon; Godchildren, Sharone Taylor, Rodryck Williams, and Jeronda Thornton; friend, Nadine Wanser and family; and a host of other sorrowing great nieces, nephew, cousin and friends.
