Mr. Christopher Simmons

Christopher Wesley Simmons of Tampa, FL passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Cathedral Church of God in Christ, 6450 County Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584 with Elder Ronald Boyle, Officiating. Interment will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. MASK RECOMMENDED.

Christopher Wesley Simmons was born on December 2nd, 1943, in Seffner, Florida, to Ben and Catherine Simmons. Christopher Wesley Simmons attended Hillsborough County Schools. He graduated with honors from Middleton High School, Class of 1962. He served in the United States Marine Corp Reserve since February of 1965. While in the military, he went to the Marine Corps Engineering School at Quantico, Virginia, where he acquired several medals ranging from Good Conduct to a Vietnamese Campaign Medal with Device 1960-Rifle Expert Badge. He also graduated from Sacramento State University, Sacramento, CA. He was a loving son, father of two children, brother to all his siblings, and the oldest child of ten children. He was sincere and dedicated to all his family.

He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Lashawn Simmons; parents, Ben, and Catherine Simmons; sisters, Malvese King and Carol L. Graham; brother, Jonathan D. Simmons; and nephew, Eric Simmons.

He leaves his precious memories with: his daughter, Kimberly Simmons; sisters, Lonnie Simmons- Otis, Catherine Simmons, Joellen Walker, and Angela Edwards (Kerry); brothers, Bennie Simmons (Juanita), and Roger Simmons; aunts, Edna Mae Johnson, Evelyn Cooper, and Mary Ann Miller; uncle, Willie Jackson; significant other, Yvonne Johnson; caregiver, Alton Kenner; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel. MASK RECOMMENDED.
