Clifford Jones was born on March 11, 1949, in Islandton, South Carolina, to the late John and Rachel Jones. He attended high school in Walterboro, SC, and joined Deep Creek Baptist Church. He spent several years in New York City. Later in 1994, he moved to Tampa, Florida, searching for a better life. With the help of his cousin and best friend, Charles Hamilton, he secured a job at Kaufman, driving trucks for many years. In 2017, he met his lovely wife, Merle, and they married on April 27, 2021. Clifford’s favorite pastimes included shopping for nice outfits to wear, listening to old-school music, watching sports- especially football-, and spending time with his wife.
He loved his wife so much that he enjoyed spending lots of time with her, traveling by car and train, going to different functions, and taking her out to breakfast and dinner at nice restaurants. He also liked for them to dress alike, laughing and telling jokes, playing spades, and dominoes. He kept a smile on her face all the time. He loved buying her gifts and roses, going all out, for every holiday! He gave his all to spend time with his amazing wife.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, John Jones, and Rachel Jones; two sisters, Barbara Ann Jones and Stella Mae Jones; two brothers, Jeray and Clemson Jones; and nephew, Foster Fryer.
He leaves to cherish his memories to: his wife; Merle Jones, stepson; Brannon Donaldson; step-granddaughter, Nigeria Donaldson; five sisters; Carrie Jones, Joann Jones, Aline Gant (Rodney), Ethel Jones, and Cray Williams; two brothers, Daniel Jones and John Jones (Josephine); two aunts, Angelina Givens and Louis Henderson; two half-sisters, Rumelle Bourjolly and Alice Black; special cousin, Charles Hamilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, and cousins.
