Mr. Darren De Costa

A Celebration of Life for Mr. Darren De Costa (affectionately known as “D”), who peacefully entered eternal rest on Monday, July 27, 2026, will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 2606 West Grace Street, Tampa, FL 33607, with Pastor Kenton J. Brown, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial, 4615 East Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.

Mr. Darren De Costa was born on July 26, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, to Thomas L. De Costa Sr. and Theresa Lemons. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His schooling began in Brooklyn, New York and he earned his high school diploma in Tampa, Florida. He served in the Florida National Guard and was employed by First Union Bank for over 10 years and the International Longshoremen’s Association (Local #1402) from 1989 until his passing.

He was a devoted, loving and attentive husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He had a radiant spirit and a beautiful, contagious smile that touched everyone around him. His calm personality and deep affection for his family and friends defined who he was. He was diligent and devoted to his work. He held immense respect for every individual in his family. He loved going to the beach, cooking out, traveling with his family, playing and watching sports, and loved listening to music. He leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished forever.

He was preceded in death by: his Father, Thomas L. De Costa Sr.; Mother, Theresa Powell; and Brother, Thomas L. De Costa Jr.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his Wife of 45 Years, Wanda De Costa; Son, Jaharra De Costa (Le'Nitia); two Daughters, Eboney De Costa (Fred) and Desarai De Costa; Brothers, Tracey De Costa and Marcus De Costa; Sisters, Chariesse De Costa and Tomara De Costa; Grand Daughters, Jadra De Costa and Reign De Costa; Bonus Brothers, Donnie (Sharon) Roundtree,  Robin Roundtree, and Anthony (Latoya) Roundtree of South Carolina; Bonus Sister, Tracy (Michael) Mickens of Missouri; Bonus Mother, Beverly De Costa of South Carolina; Mother-In-Law: Tommy Lee Miller; Sisters-In-Law, Sharon Nelson (Paris), Carrol Patterson (Joe), LaVora Edwards, and Sanita Williams (Willie); Brother-In-Law, Choice Miller (Lois); Aunts, Evelyn Miller, Sandra Flowers, Diane Lemons, and Andrea Thompson; Special Friends: Yancey Wilson, Gary Presley, Gerald White and a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Family and Friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 North Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
