Mr. David Lee Jones, Sr., passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. A Memorial Service honoring his life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Pastor Donald Lott, Officiating.
Mr. Jones was born on August 11, 1964, in Belle Glade, Florida, but his life was deeply intertwined with the city of Tampa, where many first came to know and love him. He later expanded his roots to Georgia, creating a bridge of memories between Florida and Georgia.

His exceptional pitching skills earned him a spot directly out of high school in the 28th round of the MLB Draft, where he was selected by the Atlanta Braves. He also played professionally for the Durham Bulls in 1985.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Benjamin Jones, Sr. and Nina Rice Cameron; siblings, Deborah Washington, Benjamin Jones, Jr., Ronnie and Renee Jones (twins), June Jones, and Alvin Jones; and niece, Davina Harris.
