Mr. Elias Lara Vargas Obituary

Elias Guillermo Lara Vargas of Tampa, FL passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.  A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.

Elías was a gift from God to his family and a light in the lives of all who knew him. With his joyful spirit, noble heart, and genuine kindness, he touched many lives and left a lasting impression wherever he went. Raised with strong values and guided by faith, Elías lived with purpose and integrity.

From a young age, Elías demonstrated discipline and determination, beginning his journey in karate at the age of five and later excelling in other sports through dedication and perseverance. He was a loyal and generous friend, always encouraging others and leading by example.

At just 18 years old, Elías showed the depth of his character in his final act—giving his life to save his friend. As the Bible reminds us, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Elías will forever be remembered as a brave hero whose love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Elias was a native of Venezuela and a resident of Tampa for five years.  He attended Sickles High School and was employed as a Lifeguard.

He was preceded in death by:  his grandparents, Alida Vargas and Regulo Vargas.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  his parents, Guillermo Lara Tovar and Alida Rebeca Vargas Maldonado; brother, Jeremias Guillermo Lara Vargas; grandparents, Rosa Elena Tovar Ojeda and Guillermo Lara Paris; aunts, Mariangel Lara, Marianna Lara and Genessis Lara; uncles, Ruth Vargas and Samuel Vargas; cousins,      Sofía Lara, Alana Ayala, Ferenc Radics, Priscilla Radics, Debora Salazar, Leslie Landaeta, and EliasAmbar Landaeta.

Elías Guillermo Lara Vargas de Tampa, FL falleció el Martes, 27 de Enero de 2026.  Una Celebración de Vida será llevada a cabo el Sábado, 7 de Febrero de 2026 a las 4:00 p.m. en Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, FL 33606.

Elías fue un regalo de Dios para su familia y una luz en la vida de todos los que lo conocieron. Con su espíritu alegre, su corazón noble y su bondad genuina, tocó muchas vidas y dejó una huella imborrable. Criado con valores firmes y guiado por la fe, Elías vivió con propósito e integridad.

Desde muy joven demostró disciplina y determinación, iniciando su camino en el karate a los cinco años y destacándose luego en otros deportes por su constancia y entrega. Fue un amigo leal y generoso, siempre dispuesto a animar y a dar el ejemplo.

Con tan solo 18 años, Elías mostró la grandeza de su carácter en su último acto: dar su vida para salvar la de su amiga. Como nos recuerda la Biblia: “No hay mayor amor que aquel que da la vida por sus amigos.” Elías será recordado para siempre como un héroe valiente, cuyo amor y legado vivirán eternamente en nuestros corazones

Elías era nativo de Venezuela y residente de Tampa por cinco años. Estudiaba en Sickles High School y fue empleado como Salvavidas.

Le precedieron en la muerte: sus abuelos, Alida Vargas y Regulo Vargas.
