Mr. Eugene S. Harris of Tampa, FL, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Cathedral, 3401 Bishop Eddie Newkirk Way, Tampa, FL 33605, with Rodney Norton, Officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Eugene S. Harris was born on July 19, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Jesse Harris and the late Emma Mae Wingfield.
On November 9, 1963, he was united in holy matrimony to Roberta Wyche Harris. He was a loyal employee for 38 years at AmeriSteel Corporation, formerly known as Florida Steel Corporation, where he held the positions of Supervisor and Occupational Safety and Health Hygienist. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was followed in his footsteps by many of his children, grandchildren, and extended relatives, who also served in the Armed Services.
He cherished spending time with his family, cooking, barbequing, being the family historian, and watching sports.
He was preceded in death by: his stepfather, John Wingfield; two brothers, Larry and Jerry Wingfield; one sister, Kassandra Kirkland; and one grandson, Vincent Harris II.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife, Roberta Harris; children, Rickey Harris, Valencia Harris (Cecil), Tonya Williams (Toney), Darrell Harris, Nicole Claiborne, Catonya Bonnick (Kemar), Eugene Harris, and Vincent Harris (Alisha); siblings, Gary Wingfield (Tangelous) and Corenthia Wingfield; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Johnny Wyche Sr. (Belinda) and Tony White; sisters-in-law, Cherrie Colson (Welbert), Anna Mae Braxton, Gladys Coney, and Deloris Curry and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memories.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
