Mr. Herman Lee Marr of Tampa Bay passed away Friday, August 21, 2026. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Pastor Donald Lott, Officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Herman was born on August 14, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Beatrice Jackson Atwaters and the late Henry “Hank” Marr, Sr. During his youth, his family relocated to Tampa, Florida, where he spent his formative years and graduated from H. B. Plant High School with the Class of 1977. In prior years, he attended University Community Outreach Christian Center Church and served with the youth.
A man of remarkable dedication and strong work ethic, Herman built a long and stable career. He worked faithfully and eventually retired from both Delta Airlines with 16 years of service and 19 years at UPS, earning the respect of his colleagues through his reliability and steady presence prior to his retirement. He has worked part-time for Carter & Verplanck. He also loved working with his special family, the Morejon family, catering events all over Tampa for over 20 years.
Beyond his formal career, Herman possessed a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit. In his earlier years, he pursued independent business ventures with great pride, successfully owning and operating a vehicle and boat detailing business, as well as managing his own gas station.
He was preceded in death by: his beloved brothers, Henry Marr, Jr. and Herbert Marr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his brothers, Harold Marr, Sr. and Nathaniel Tindall; his sisters, Cheri Finley and Cassandra Herds. Additionally, he leaves behind a host of grieving nephews, Harold Marr Jr. and Joseph Marr; nieces, Melanese Marr-Thomas, Dr. Tayanna Richardson, Ginnetta Lucas, Ambur Herds, Jennifer Marr, and Josetta Marr; Pastor Rodney Frank (Yvonne); sister-in-law, Venus Marr; and many family members, cherished friends, neighbors, and former colleagues.
His generous spirit, laughter, and warm personality will forever be cherished and missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
