Obituary
Mr. James E. Tate of Tampa, Florida passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 E. Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610 with Pastor Tonya Wright Stevenson, Officiating.
Mr. James E. Tate was a native of Canton, Mississippi, and a resident of Tampa for 60 years. He attended Canton Mississippi Public Schools. He was employed as a Longshoreman for Tampa Marine for 38 years.
Mr. James E. Tate affectionately known as “Tate” was born July 2, 1942, to his mother Rachel. Tate was a man of God. He was quiet but compassionate with a golden giving heart to help those in need with no expectation of return. He enjoyed watching the Buccaneers, listening to B.B. King music and had a love for chocolate.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Delois Adams Tate; mother, Rachel; longtime companion, Rose Williams; and great granddaughter, Je’Hyrah Daniels.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted daughter; 3 sons; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members, coworkers, and friends of the community.
A visitation will be held Friday, August 18, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
