John Ben Trotman Jr. of Tampa Fl passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Allen Temple AME Church, 2101 N. Lowe Street Tampa, FL 33605 with Pastor Gregory K. Davis, Officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. MASK RECOMMENDED.
John Ben Trotman Jr was born in Tampa, Florida on May 28, 1963. The son of John Sr and Inez Weber Trotman. He was educated locally through Hillsborough County Public Schools. He graduated from Tampa Bay Technical School-Class of 1981. After high school, John went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army as a Cargo Specialist. He was honorably discharged in 1986. In 1987, John celebrated the birth of his first and only child, Jemell Trotman, with Dorette Sampson. His son would always be his number one priority.
Anyone who knew John, knew he had a strong work ethic. During his time in the military, he received several certifications that he would utilize in the civilian workforce. He worked with Phillips Circuit as an Inspector and Solder from 1987-1989. In 1989, he accepted a position with Johnson Control as a forklift driver and First Machine Assembly Operator (Welder) where he worked from 1989-1997. In 1997, he began working at RP Scherer as a Caps Operator, where he remained until ultimately accepting a position at Catalent Pharma Solutions. John remained with Catalent for over 26 years-the remainder of his career.
John was a good man with a wonderful heart. He was present in the lives of the people he loved. He was an amazing son, brother, uncle, father, and friend.
John Ben Troman Jr. was preceded in death by: his Mother, Inez McIntosh Weber Trotman; Father, John Ben Trotman Sr. (Alma); Brothers, Henry Trotman, Joseph “Mickey” Mickens Sr., Clarence “Mac” Joseph McIntosh Jr., John Alvin Trotman, William “Billy” Trotman, and Robert Bobby Trotman; Sister, Barbara Jean Godfrey-Worlds (Ernest); Nephew, QuintanaTrotman; Great-Nephew, Toddricks Grant; and many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Son, Jemell Trotman; Brother, Leroy Trotman (BettyJean) of NC; Sisters, Deborah Waddell (Virginia), Helen Trotman Anderson of Tallahassee, and Margaret Trotman of Gainesville; Sisters-In-Law, Ronnie Mickens, and Mae McIntosh; Nieces, Inez “Regina” Godfrey, Irene “Yvette” Godfrey (Dwayne), Barbara “LaShawn” Baker, Arthena “Nikki” Rutledge (John), Michelle Hall-Shabazz (Robert), and Jennifer Trotman; Nephews, Joseph “Lil Mickey” Mickens III (Tammy), and Jeffrey Trotman; Great-Nieces and Nephews, Zenaida Golden, Selena Golden, Carl “CJ” Golden, Rayleen Green, Dereke “DJ” Bishop Jr. (Daphne), Adrienne Bishop (Jacques), Ayesha Godfrey, Siedah Godfrey, Rashard Ricks, John III “Buddy”, Joshua, and Jaime Rutledge; Special Cousins, Charles Jackson, Henderson Sheppard (Lil Jr.), Lovette Donaldson, and Gregory Lane; Special Friend, Stephanie Pride; Brotherhood, Dre, James, Sloan, and Jeff; the Catalent family of 26 years; and many other beloved relatives.
A visitation will be held on Friday March 24, 2023, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. MASK RECOMMENDED.
