Mr. Joseph W. Spencer Sr. of Tampa, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Pastor B.R. Fulton, Jr. of Greater Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church, officiating.
Mr. Joseph W. Spencer, Sr. was a native of Tallahassee, FL, and a resident of Tampa, FL for over 70 years. He attended several Hillsborough County schools until he decided to concentrate on his career to provide for his family. He was employed as a landscaping agent for several funeral homes in the greater Tampa Bay area.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Luvenia E. Spencer-White, sister, Patricia (Diane) White, wife, Berlin Holden-Spencer, grandsons, Dyrel Smith, Michael Jenkins, Jr. and granddaughter, Mikeria Jenkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Joseph W. (Ladreda) Spencer Jr., Hilda Spencer, Marvin Spencer, Kimberly Gilbert, Alfred (Colleen) Holden, Christine (David) Blakely, and Tomeka Evans; God-daughters, Sylvia Hall and Trenise Hall; grandchildren, Tanesha (Tommy) Brown, Latara Burley, Jokeyla Spencer, Joseph W. Spencer III, Jalonda Spencer, Joseph Jenkins, Jaquanna Jenkins, Deshae Jenkins, Vickie Gurley, DeVante (Jernisa) Hall, Jahques Christopher, Lakeithia Beckwith, Jessica Adams, Alfred Holden Jr., Dra’Queisha Green, DaVares Blakely, DaVontrae Blakely, Tay’nesha Harris, and Ronald Tyson; 38 great-grandchildren; auntie, Katie Allen (Harrisburg, PA); sisters, Shirley Ann White and Carolyn (Roosevelt) Lawrence; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 01, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
