Mr. Leonardi “Lennie” Ramírez peacefully transitioned from this life on Friday, February 28, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Ray Williams Memorial Chapel, 301 N. Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606. The family will begin receiving guests at 4:30 PM.
Mr. Ramirez was a native son of Tampa, FL, and resided in the city for a combined total of over 40 years. He moved to Gainesville, FL, at the age of 9 and was a proud graduate of Lincoln High School (Class of 1960) before joining the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he received his associate degree from Gibbs Junior College. Lennie’s academic journey also took him to Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, FL, and to Brooklyn, New York, where he worked as an Operating Room Tech at King’s County Hospital and attended Long Island University (LIU), completing all but his last semester in Physician Assistant Studies before falling ill and returning to Gainesville, FL.
Mr. Ramirez resided in Huntsville and Gadsden, AL, for the last 15 years with his daughter, “Nikki.” While in Alabama, he studied with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Through it all, he found comfort in God’s promises and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Less than a week after Lennie’s passing, his youngest sibling, Johnny Davis, also made his transition, leaving a double void in the hearts of those who loved them both.
Mr. Ramirez now leaves to cherish his memory: his childhood sweetheart, Mildred J. Ramirez Bradley (née Mills); Aunts, Estella Collins, Essie Johnson, and Marie Longworth; sisters, Yvonne Wilkerson and Cynthia Peterson; Brother-in- Law, Robert Smith; daughter, Danielle “Nikki” Ramirez Barnes, and two adopted daughters, Linda Brascom and Arlena J. Worthen; grandsons, Nelson, III, Trenton, and Trevor Barnes (Sonny: Nelson Barnes, Jr.); nieces: Valerie Trotman, Vetrice Allen, Kimberly James, Mary Richo, Marie Richo, and Nickie Johnson; nephews, Arnold “Jake” Mitchell, Wendell Ramírez, Reverend Spencer Pittman, Darryl Ramírez, and Robert White; The Del Pino, Henderson, and Childs Families, along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
