Mario Roman Boronell, affectionately known as Mario, “Brother Marty”, “Marty Mar”,” Mr. B”, “Pop”, “Poppi”, was born October 29, 1939, in Tampa, Florida to the late Mario and Dorothy Boronell. He was the second oldest of four children. Mario attended Hillsborough County Public Schools. In 1958, he graduated from Middleton High School, and in 1962, he earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Florida A&M University, in Tallahassee, Florida. Mario was employed at Hillsborough County Public School System. In 1963, he began teaching at Henderson and Lomax Elementary Schools. In 1969, he transferred from Lomax Elementary School to Nature’s Classroom. Mario “renamed” Nature’s Classroom to Environmental Education. Not only did the course receive a new name, but Mr. Boronell’s name was changed to “Mr. B” by teachers, visiting teachers, and students for developing and implementing the Echo System Study Program. He was such a remarkable instructor to all students, and a vital mentor to many of his colleagues. In 1977, he earned his master’s degree in education, from the University of Tampa.
In 1990, while attending his family’s Thanksgiving dinner, his eyes captured the beauty of Ms. Jacqueline Madison. They both attended Eatonville C.O.G.I.C. where their relationship with Christ grew as well as their fondness for each other. In 1992, Brother Marty joined Eatonville C.O.G.I.C. where he later transferred to New Church of Faith. As Brother Marty began to grow in Christ and serve in the church, he wanted to serve with a Godly woman by his side. So, on May 1, 1993, Mario and Jacqueline joined together in Holy Matrimony.
As Brother Marty’s worship and love for God increased, he was appointed Ministry Team Leader for approximately (6) years. Not only was he a dedicated Ministry Team Leader, but he was also a devoted deacon and usher at the New Church of Faith. In 2015, Brother Marty and Sister Jacqueline were asked to help start a new ministry in Tampa, Florida, where they both continued to serve and thrive, under Pastors Rocky and Donna Vann.
Brother Marty was preceded in death by: his parents, Mario and Dorothy Boronell; and sister, Delores O. Cephas.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: a devoted wife of (32) years, Jacqueline Boronell; children, Yolanda Boronell of Tallahassee, Florida, Tisa Boronell of Riverview, Florida, Michael Madison Jr., of Lakeland, Florida; sisters, Barbara Collins of Tampa, Florida, Joyce (Earl) Madison of Maitland, Florida; grandchildren, Kayla (Brandon) Lee, of Tampa, Florida, Kennedy Jones of Riverview, Florida, Maliyah Madison of Lakeland, Florida; special friends, Johnny Worlds, Gentle Ben, Albert Adams II, Pastors Rocky and Donna Vann, Pastor Lynese Smith, Pastors Tim and Ruthenia Moses, Pastor Deryl Jones, and family; a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family, mentees, church leaders, church family, and sorrowing friends.
